The Revies – Stranger

LA-based indie rock band The Revies delivers yet another refreshing gem. The new single “Stranger” was recorded at 4th Street Recording Studio in Santa Monica, CA and is accompanied by lyric video, chronicling their love for the City of Angels.

The Revies (comprised of brothers Etienne and Carlos Rosas on vocals/guitar and bass, respectively, Keith Snow on electric cello, and James Syme on drums) started out in Monterrey, Mexico in 2007 and have been based in Los Angeles since 2015. The band’s musical style is characterized by a mix of classic Brit rock and grunge, with a blend of English and Spanish lyrics, heavily influenced by artists like Jack White, Foo Fighters, Chris Cornell, and Foals. Since 2009 they have recorded over 5 LPs, including their previous “Heartwoken” which was well-received by Southern California audiences, and has played to both Mexican and American audiences throughout.

Speaking about the song, The Revies reveal: “This song was written as somewhat of a love letter to Los Angeles, an amazing yet daunting city for any musician. LA has an ambivalent quality of inspiring gratefulness even as you’re going through a tough grind, of making you feel like you’re right where you’re supposed to be even as you’re still a stranger to it all. Embracing the unknown is an important part of every art form, and you soon realize that nobody has it figured it out, but there’s a certain comfort in that shared struggle that feels ever-present in a place like LA. We wanted to write a modern, indie song which still had a some grit to it, and we’d been heavily influenced by bands like Foals or Tame Impala. At 4th Street Recording, a place where some of our teen idols like Incubus recorded their first albums, we feel we managed to strike that balance”
