Hollow Coves announce debut album “Moments”

Brisbane’s Hollow Coves will release their anticipated debut full-length album Moments on October 18th, and today they share lead single “When We Were Young”. The track pairs a soft beat, lush acoustic guitar, and dreamy piano with reflective lyrics, and a shared harmony between the two underscores pensive and poetic nostalgia.

Produced by Chris Bond [Ben Howard, Justin Nozuka, Xavier Rudd] and recorded in the countryside in the south of England, the 11 songs that make up Moments were inspired by reflecting on a variety of moments and unforgettable shared experiences in their lives, and the lives of those around them, over the past three years. “After our EP came out, we got a lot of messages from people saying that our music helped them through tough or stressful times,” recalls Matt. “I think that definitely motivated us when we were working on Moments. We wanted to continue to write songs that could help to shine light and bring a bit of peace into people’s lives.” Adds Ryan, “I guess in a way we wanted the album to be the music equivalent of some sort of new-age retreat where people might go to sit still, renew their mind, and shift their focus to something more positive.”

The album follows their debut EP Wanderlust (2017), featuring standout track “The Woods,” which garnered over 40 million streams on Spotify alone, while two of the other songs, “Coastline” and “Home,” each surpassed 30 million Spotify streams.

A dynamic indie folk group brimming with their passion for travel and observing different shades of the world, Hollow Coves is the project of Ryan Henderson and Matt Carins. After meeting in 2013 through mutual friends and a shared love of acoustic music, the boys began writing together with no real expectations for where it might lead. Five years later, Ryan and Matt’s memories from their travels across all corners of the globe have led to a range of new music influenced by their journeys. Blending an earthy folk sound, acoustic melodies & vocal harmonies; Matt and Ryan take turns delivering lyrics of reflection, frequently harmonizing as their voices blend together and complement each other.
