Newcastle singer-songwriter duo Dolder, made up of identical twins Dani and Zara, introduce their debut EP The Motive, anchored by the title track of the same name.
Speaking about the song, the duo shares: “The Motive’ is the song that I believe represents us at our core. This is truly who we are and how we work. I think this might be our most vulnerable song out of this body. This song can be interpreted in any way you want. Although the song comes across as being centred around a relationship with another person, originally it was written about the relationship with ourselves and the self depreciation we were both inflicting on ourselves so viciously. Saying this, almost every time we listen back to this it means something different. It all depends on mood, the weather, the time of the month, relationships, the lot. We write not only to understand ourselves but to give people who have feelings similar to ours a safe place to exist. If for the 2 minutes and 17 seconds you listen to this, you feel understood or anything at all, then we are doing what we have always dreamt of doing. This song is us.”
