Oscar Wilde once said that the mystery of love is greater than the mystery of death. For many years’ humans have been fascinated with the idea of being in love with someone. The comforting feeling of knowing that someone has your best interests at heart. What happens when this feeling isn’t mutual? The immediate answer would be endless pain. The same love Brown Ey’d Freak has for music hasn’t translated into his personal life, however. In ocean fantasy, the pain of a woman’s rejection can be felt. The song is based on a male’s strong attraction to a woman who doesn’t feel the same way. Being rejected by someone who you love is a hard pill to swallow.

With nothing but a broken heart left, he then creates this false reality where his lover and himself are mermaids swimming peacefully away from a crumbling world. Ocean fantasy is Brown Ey’d Freaks’ gift to an imperfect world filled nothing but heartache and pain. He hopes to find peace in a false reality that only seems to exist in his mind.
